百家争鳴が望ましいのかなと思う

先日、のべるのぶろぐさんでの連載記事を取り上げさせていただいたけれども、その2回目がアップされた。こちら（1回目は「序章」だったので、今回が第1章になります）。
いや、実は読んで少々違和感を覚えたんだわ。異論があるとかそういったことではないんだけれども。あれ？　小野不由美どこいったの？　みたいな感じで。
考えてみるに、のべるのぶろぐさんでは「ライトノベルは従来文庫の形で多く刊行されてきた。しかし、ノベルズでの刊行やハードカバーへの進出など、文庫以外の形にも進出していくことでそのフィールドを広げようとしている」ということを論じようとしていると思われ、それをライトノベルの「越境」と表現した。で、私はといえば「越境」と聞いて版型のみならず、読者層の拡大とかそういったことを連想したわけですよ。で、ライトノベルからクロスオーバーにヒットした小説でパッと思い浮かんだのが「十二国記」なわけで。
てなことを考えていたら、のべるのぶろぐさんにTBをうたれているPrivate Windowさんで、ライトノベル系文庫から一般向け文庫への「文庫落ち」が既に論じられていた。そのエントリはこちら。うんうん。

ここで大切なのは、誰の論が間違っているとか、どっちが正しいとか、そんなのは重要じゃないということ。
以前、ライトノベルにおける批評（というか、シーンを概観する作業だな）を「地図作り」と表現して、かつてSF小説がそれで失敗した例を挙げ、同じ轍を踏まないといいなあなんて書いたことがあったけれども（そのエントリはこちら）より具体的に言うと、SFにおいてはある特定の（もしくはどれをとっても似たような）シーンというものがファンの間で支配的になってしまい、そのシーンの外側の才能や「いや、こんな見方もある」という異論がマイナーなものに留まらざるを得なかった。その結果、業界から読者から、なにからなにまで視野狭窄を起こしてしまったんじゃないかってのがあるわけですよ。（もっと具体的に言うと、どの媒体、どの雑誌を読んでも、同じような面子がSF小説に関する文章を書いているわけだから、必然の帰結であったのかなと思う。この構図は今も根強く残っているしね）。
だから、ライトノベルシーンの現状について、ある共通認識が出来上がってしまうということについて「それは悪影響も大きいんじゃない？」という危惧があったんだわ。。
しかしだ、このエントリを書いたときに大きな点を見逃していたことにさっき気がついたのよ。そうね、SFが大失敗した頃と違って、今ってネット社会なのよね。

つまり、ある事柄のシーンを概観しようと思ったら、昔はそれこそブックガイドや雑誌・評論書といった出来合いのものを頼りにするか、数少ない同好の士が集まって馬鹿話しながらダベるくらいしかなかったのが、今は多くの人が自分描くシーンを提出できる状況になっていたのね。それを忘れていた。
そういった中では、ある特定の見方が大勢を占めてしまう危険性は以前に比べてずっと減っているんじゃなかろうか。なんだ、じゃあ心配ないじゃん。と。
逆に言うと、ある見方が大勢を占めてしまったらそれが危険信号ともいえるんじゃないかと思う。
そういった意味で、のべるのぶろぐさんの論に対して異なる観点の論が出てきているのはとても健全なことであると思うし、既存の批評本において示されているシーンの図式っつーのにも権威を持たせてはいけないと思う。あれか、こんなところにも「既存のメディアに対するカウンター」が必要かなと（笑）。
