活字文化振興におけるネガティブなフレイヴァー

元フリーター編集者の出版日記さんから活字文化振興について書いたエントリをTBいただいたので、これを機会に活字文化振興とやらについて思っていることなんぞを書いておこうかという次第。

まあ、読み書きや文章読解力は大事なものなので、それを強化しようという話があったとしたらその動きは悪いことではないとは思うんだけど、それと「本を読む」ことはイコールではないなあと思ってみたり。本を読む人はみんな話のわかる人かというと、別にそんなことはないしね。私含め、アホな読書家というのは掃いて捨てるほどいるわけだし。

それとはまた別に、本ってのはいいものだからもっと積極的に打って出ようというキャンペーンもいいことだと思うわけで。
ただ読売のやってる21世紀活字文化プロジェクトってのはかなり胡散臭い感じで見ていたりするんだが。

で、こちらがそのプロジェクトのページ。恐いので見出しは載せませんよ、と（笑）。
プロジェクトの趣旨説明の文章が載っているのだけれど、一部引用すると

　若者を中心に活字離れ現象は深刻さを増しています。このままでは次世代の思考力や創造力の低下、ひいては人間力の衰退につながりかねません。活字文化のさらなる発展が急務です。

「人間力ってなんじゃい」とか、そういったことはさておき、これってねえ、いかがなものかと思うんだよ。この一節なんて、完全に危機感を煽るために書かれているでしょ。
リンク先の全文を読んでみても、どこにも出版文化の残してきた素晴らしい実績や、本はこんなに素晴らしいとか、ポジティブな面が何一つ語られていないわけ。
いや、プロジェクトにおいては、そういった読書の楽しさを伝えるといったポジティブなこともやっているようだけどさ。

例えば、あなたが「本をもっと普及させるためにキャンペーンをやりたいんだけど」と誘われて、こういった設立趣旨の策定にもかかわったとしてさ。
「読書というのは素晴らしい体験だ。昨今はいろんなメディアも登場しているけれども、この素晴らしさを改めて多くの人に拡げていきたい」
とポジティブにやった方が、リンク先の読売のプロジェクトみたく
「最近読書する人が減ってきてる。このままだと次世代がマジヤバイので、活字文化を再興させるのが急務です。いや、マジヤバイってば」
とネガティブに危機感を煽るよりもずっと心証良くないかい？
広く一般に働きかけるプロジェクトであるからこそ、そういった心証の部分は重要になると思うわけで。そんなところからも、なんか感覚がずれてないかなといらん心配を……いや、心配はしてないな。これっぽっちも（笑）。巨人も読売もナベツネも好きじゃないしな。

ちなみに、プロジェクト内で活字文化推進委員会っつうのが組まれているらしく、こちらがその名簿。
既存のお偉い方が雁首そろえているような印象がありますな。
もうネガティブなやり方しか思いつかなくなっちゃってるんだろうな。失礼ながら、少々可哀想ですらある。推進委員長が活字の独自性をアピールしようとして見事に失敗しているあたりなんざぁ、涙を誘うね、もう。
